A challenge but fun that every day was different and exciting.
Dealing with Costumers weather they were there to bet on a race who were also under the influence of alcohol could be difficult or hard to understand otherwise could be a good laugh sometimes. my team co-workers were very good with their jobs, and also helped me out with knowing the ropes and where everything was, I was shown that everyone looked after one another and often helped when our jobs were done, it was almost like a family environment but only at a work place. The hardest part of the job would have to be strolling heavy large trollies down busy hallways then onto elevators then through a large number of people. the most enjoyable part of the jod, were the co-workers and supervisors and also the chefs, they were all very hard workers but very nice encouraging and friendly people, but also taken very seriously.

My first hospitality job within the Gold Coast Region. Whilst working for the GCTC, I grew as a hospitality worker in a variety of roles under immensely high pressure scenarios. These roles include floor-staff, bar staff, head barista and head caterer. Having little experience in large-scale organizations, I am very proud on how quickly I learned to develop my stress tolerance and workplace stamina whilst diversifying my abilities such as customer engagement, food and beverage preparation/knowledge and overall my social skills and team-work, which was the most crucial component to my successes.

My work colleagues are very friendly and inviting, communication of all aspects of your surroundings and enviroment is important to what you deal with everyday. Being alert of all this is important. Having a friendly and politeful manner is needed in every situation that you deal with. Problem solving issues in a quick and easy manner. my co-workers are easy to get along with also helping each other if get stuck in something. my most enjoyable part of working is interacting with clients/customers of all cultures.

very flexible to work for, the events are huge and hard work but well worth it! a typical work day would be arriving to the section or bar you have been assigned to for the day, getting a run down of the event and jobs or duties to be carried out, meeting the people you are working with then commencing. the most enjoyable part of the job is the flexible roster and the excitement of the racing and punting.

A typical day involves opening and closing procedures, computer usage, customer service and cash handling. Work is minimal, usually one shift per week, typically on saturday and sometimes on a wednesday. Great for a bit of money in the back pocket. Keep on top of communication with supervisors to remain on the  roster.

Be prepared for Work place bullying, management swearing at staff, embarrassing you and putting you down in front of customers. High turn over of staff because of terrible management. Besides all of that It is actually a fun place to work if you can stay out of the line of fire of the management who can’t control their anger! CEO is a disgrace!!

Fantastic facilities great location long hours required but sadly only really open on Saturdays for racing events so not much hours available for staff.
Pay is fairly low and work load can be really high.

The Turf Club is only one day per week on a Saturday being race-day but is a great place to work with a great management team.

I do alot of functions and events which is great and meet alot of different people from all over Australia and the world!
