When you arrived at the start of every shift there's always someone there to say hello and share a smile at the beginning of everyday and there's always room for a short casual chat about what's been happening in town, at school, on the news, in the store and each others' personal lives in general. We always found something to laugh about, whether it be something in the store or not we tried to keep a happy, enjoyable professional atmosphere as much as possible, not only for own sakes but it made the customers feel more relaxed and enjoyable. 
The manager rarely got angry or upset - unless it was something serious - and was always up for a bit of a chat about the workplace, even if it was to have a bit of a chuckle or a joke with someone whoworked on the floor.

Keeping the products position on shields for customers to appreciate, brand and expiring date, also the presentation nice and clean of every product, specially foods.

Wile we replenishing, we have to keep attention on any customer questions, keep smiley face an excellent manners to answer.

We had a short video to watch about OH&S, which I find it very necessary. 
Was about wet floor heavy lifting and cold places to store fresh products.


People are very friendly what make the place good and I was so comfortable.

But all finished there, they don't have to employ you, even if you apply, is all a working experience, to know if you are capable to work.

I was happy I liked that job, but my application wasn't even taken into account.

Typically, I would work either in produce, grocery, or dairy, where I was responsible for stock replenishment. Additionally I was involved in the preparation of produce stock for display, as well as some ordering and ticketing of products. 

The management were helpful and encouraging, and the team which shared the responsibilities of maintaining the store were excellent.

While sometimes the hours were not ideal, the job was enjoyable.

Engagement with the public was an important and exciting prospect of the job, and all staff members, including myself, ensured our customers were as happy as possible.

In my time with Franklins, I felt valued and appreciated. Both management and fellow staff were friendly and welcoming. 

My day would begin in the afternoon. I would welcome the night-fill staff and assign them their tasks for the evening. I would also stack the shelves and rotate the stock. I would check on the progress of the staff in my care and assist them to complete their work as necessary. At the end of the night I was responsible for locking the store. If there were any issues, I was responsible for reporting to the store manager.

In this role I learned the importance of effective communication and how to organise my staff, which was not something I felt comfortable with initially.

I am a great believe in giving others a chance and I will always be grateful for franklins giving me a lot of different work to do 
From cashing , packing working the shop floor learning health and safety and even being on the stock take team
My time there being a cashier , stock controller , pricing , packing , working stock take . Doing health and safety course , working in the deli 
I also checked temperature of the meat dept and deli , checking stock had been rotated

Sometimes the customers people having a bad day sometimes made you stress

Good we helped each other  the manager s we’re very helpful and friendly 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I would go in get money tray count the money out go and open my register start serving customers when finished recount money put in safe

i really enjoyed working with franklins, a typical day was swiping in, if you hadn't made friends by the first day, someone was bound to notice, everyone was always will to help and go the extra mile to help, the work was also rotated so that your not always on the same thing everyday, one day youll be cashier, next day youll be maybe stocktake and maybe the next day youl be facing and on real busy days you might even do a bit of everything, it was fun.

the most enjoyable part of the job is helping the customers.

Fast paced working environment, minimal staff rostered, Stocktake everyday,high levels of  customer service, working out the budgets, sales and roster, ordering stock - groceries, fresh foods, perishable, freezer, receiving deliveries. I throughly enjoyed my job because it was fastpaced and very challenging. 7 days and 24 hours  responsibilities of running the store.

The Franklins supermarket corporate stores were a wonderful place for me.  The crew I worked with were terrific and my manager's understood the demands of motherhood with a child who had learning difficulties.  They had a culture of work/life balance and genuinely cared for their people.  Store Managers had it tougher than everyone else but they were always great with the people below them.  I miss my store.
