As a former Volunteer who has High Functioning Autism - I faced attitude from a supervisor who told me to go and get help from anyone else on staff after I explained why I wasn't serving clients. 

If you really want to help food relief in a Warehouse / Logistics Environment my only advice is to make sure you fit the stereotype of the others. Because if you don't, you likely will get singled out pretty quickly. Either that - or make sure you know how to work hard and learn quickly so you can gain the respect of most of the others through shock reaction. 

Also - don't leave and expect to be accepted back. As I've had no luck to the point I've been told to move off to elsewhere. Without a single indication of anyone thanking me for my time. 

In general a good place to work and learn skills but some staff seem to have attitudes towards each other particularty with regards to money related matters within the buisness. Also a minor bullying culture within the shop according to a friend that use work there some time ago including intolerance towards long term helpers and staff also have been cited as being an issue. Customers have also been known to use race as an issue in order to gain favour from management.

You get a chance to meet people with the same goals and mindset

You work at your own pace so there is nothing stressful about the job

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Go in early work through your tasks. Talk to the volunteers there over a coffee

Helping people in need. Working with great volunteers

No real stress in this job , just getting the required pick up s done

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Too many people in so called management positions , not required

Vemery busy   lots to get done

As said, the time I've spent there was amazing!
The people were mixed between many different cultures and ethnicity but the need to work to help the less fortunate kind of "glued up" us together and we enjoyed the time we spent with each other.

I only worked at food bank for work experience as they allow you to come help out with donations and sometimes in the warehouse if they need extra hands. This is useful when asked about work experience, and the company covers a lot of main things you must experience before an actual Career. Such as heavy lifting, customer service, and improvement in communication skills.

It's a cliquey environment with management and staff who have been there awhile. If you're new, they treat you like dirt. Management is extremely backstabbing in nature. They look out for their friends in the warehouse. 
Wouldn't recommend this company to anyone passionate about warehousing. 
Food for the charity is eaten by warehouse staff. 

A shame because it could be a great place to work but the general manager is such a bully that no one stays. The GM constantly threatens to fire staff, puts down their efforts and says they're not good enough. But in the morning it's "you're all so wonderful". 

The GM also keeps the good donated stuff for themselves and then accuses staff of stealing. Go figure.

This position was volunteer and it was always busy which I really enjoy as I am not one to just sit around. I did most of the stock displays and packaging up gift baskets. All the workers there were friendly and approachable.

All the employees work in a team and help each other when needed 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lifting heavy weights  repeatedly makes stressful
