Everyday Independence

I’m not going to lie, being a Key Worker is not an easy job. It can be lonely and you feel the pressure to meet you kpi targets each week. However, I can not speak highly enough of my experience and journey with Everyday Independence so far. I am have felt so supported not just by my team but the other hubs as well. I love the fact the company believes in the importance in building your practice and assign a mentor not just for the start of your career but throughout your entire journey with Everyday Independence. There is no pressure to advance with in the company, however, if you do want to grow into other areas, you are supported and given opportunities to build on your skills. My personal goal was to to become a mentor 3 years into my journey, however, through career coaching and discussions with my Team leader that was fast tracked to 1 year in, my apprehensions and lack of belief in myself was holding me back, yet my Team Leader saw my potential and nurtured it so that I was confident to enact my goal early.  I also count myself lucky to have wonderful management team from Team Leader to Admin Area Lead to our Area Leader and above, who went above and beyond to support me, finding solutions when I sustained a non work related injury to continue working. Everyday Independence is an awesome place to work and I take great pride to be part of the Everyday Independence team.

Focus and company culture centers on ‘billable’ targets with limited focus on ongoing learning and development and training and support.
Early career/ new graduates are allocated clients outside of scope with no 1:1 support or mentoring. The reason for his may be that there is minimal screening of clients and they are allocated by admin support with no health background.
Team leaders in offices/ ‘hubs’ and senior therapists are too busy to help newer employees (team leaders have a high caseload too)  
Management acknowledge there are issues however take months ++ to action any changes. When changes do finally come they are inadequate to fully support therapists the way they need. 
There is minimal access to resources (Assessments, treatment, education resources etc.) so even if therapists think they might be able to teach themselves, they can’t. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The friends. Unfortunately the high staff turnover meant they left after a few months anyway.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Bullying from management, unrealistic KPI’s, refusal to give any pay rise unless you meet KPI’s CONSTANTLY and even then, you get paid $1hr extra for that pay rise, and the review happens only once a year.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Bullying, cliques, favourites from management, lack of support- the support they claim to give is superficial. They only care about billing clients and not actually helping clients. They’d rather us go to appointments and do nothing just to bill clients than to actually get training to help the clients

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Crying, receiving micromanagement

Great people to work with but I do feel like there is a huge emphasis on hitting KPIs to the point that team leaders have to micromanage everything (I don't blame them though). Honestly, fast-paced and I don't feel like much of a clinician. Probably not a good place to start if you're a newly grad or unfamiliar with the NDIS. Sometimes, the company will preach values but it does feel quite pretentious at times. There is an emphasis on positive toxicity, and usually ground level concerns are swept under the rug with "I believe in you" and "What can we do about it" - then nothing gets done. I enjoyed my first few months here, but after that I get to see why so many of my co-therapists have left within a year's time.

I love working here, its been 5 Years and I’m still going strong. Its not often you get to work in such a supportive team where the work you do truly makes a difference for our NDIS participants. Ive worked at other organisations before but EI really are a cut above the rest. I love that EI have a large bank of learnings, mentors on the ground as well as drop in daily online mentoring if you need it. The flexible work arangement means I can have great work life balance . If your organised, able to link in with the right  support early and are a strong communicator youd thrive in the roll and the KPIs then come naturally. Overall couldnt see myself working anywhere else!

I have worked for EI for the past 2 years and cannot imagine a better place to be. So impressed with on-the-job support and training - they invest so much in each team member. Their 12 week induction program really set me up for success and ongoing coaching and mentoring support help my learning and career progression. Flexible working means I can make my sports team events every week.  Cannot recommend it enough. They won the National Allied Health Team Culture award for a reason.

Bullying from management, unrealistic KPI’s, next to no pay rises except $1 more an hour IF you’ve met the unrealistic KPI’s for MONTHS CONSTANTLY

The culture is horrendous in the western Sydney offices. So much unfairness and bullying

I cried nearly everyday, felt isolated from the rest of the office

My experience was not positive at all.

Inadequate training and toxic culture

Stressful and challenging.....

EI is a great place to work and have real impact in our communities. The people are great and the workload manageable. 

My days are often diverse which keeps it interesting and there are solid career progression opportunities, as well as healthy PD budgets to support growing your areas of interest. 

I feel supported in my day-to-day work. 

EI is a very supportive working environment. Heaps of benefits, perks and such a great atmosphere. I love being in the office, I don’t ever feel micromanaged and I take control over my own schedule.
