I was really going to give this job a try, even though I had no experience and I was told I was gonna be there by myself, without another carer to show me how to do the job, and without having received any training (just an online test with multiple choice). 

They put my shifts in the online timesheet software (3 hours for the whole week), with the promise they will put more, and also with the promise they will give me the addresses of these clients with their job descriptions as I made them notice they haven't provided me with any info AT ALL.

My first day finally arrived and consisted in doing home care for the first hour and then personal care for the second hour. Although, I never received the address of the client, or the job description, or any indication about how to do my job rather than "you just ask the client what they want you to do" and when I asked about how I should deal with the personal care duties, they said "oh you can do it with your eyes closed, literally. It's easy".  

Now, to put a vulnerable individual in the hands of someone with no experience, who hasn't received any training, it's an hazard for both for the client and for the employee. You can get hurt or you can hurt, cause you don't know what you are doing, and you don't know how to safely handle a fragile 90 year old woman. How can management think it's ok, it's out of my belief!!

I wish the families of the clients knew that their family members are in the hands of such an organisation who clearly doesn't even know the basics of onboarding and training employees. 

I came to the conclusion that no job is better than a bad job with only a few hours per week, where your supervisor clearly can't do her job and doesn't care about you. Also you have to drive from client to client with your car and spend money for fuel that they won't refund you. 
In the end what you got is just stress and anger rather than love for the job and proper remuneration for it.

Any day at work thrives on teamwork and proper hand over.  It involves reading communication books, getting verbal handover and checking client diaries.  It also involves administration of medication following the 8 rights of medication administration, meal preparation and helping with client feeding where necessary.  
In this job I have learnt to deal with situations that need decision making, dealing with challenging behaviours and gastrostomy management.  
Edmen management are good, accessible, willing to solve problems and willing to listen.  They also manage shifts well. 
I work with many different workers and once we understand each other they are a great team to work with. 
The job often times involves the development of therapeutic relations with the clients which makes it hard when something goes wrong
When one manages to gain a client's confidence or manage to turn some behaviour around.  Being able to make a change in someone's life is so satisfying.

I had a wonderful experience working within this organisation. From the very beginning, I felt supported by both management and the team leaders, who were always approachable, encouraging, and committed to helping me develop my skills. The workplace culture was positive and collaborative, creating an environment where I felt valued and motivated to do my best each day. I was provided with opportunities to learn, contribute, and grow, which not only strengthened my confidence but also gave me the ability to work effectively within a team and independently when required.

The support from leadership and colleagues alike made it a truly rewarding place to be, and I will always be grateful for the guidance and encouragement I received during my time there. Ultimately, the only reason I decided to move on was to follow a new career path and explore opportunities aligned with my long-term goals.

A workplace is a place of positive attitude and individual required to have the ability to achieve the purpose of being at work, make the most at work by embracing the present at work with smile, show empathy, accept the workplace culture with dignity and respect, be willing to learn new skills and work in the framework of the organization policies and procedures. The most enjoyable part of my job role is when you make an impact in someone life, helping people achieve set goals or supporting them in achieving their goals. It is challenging but with passion and willingness to make a different in someone life, the outcome is rewarding.

Facilities you work clients are good . they the managers have no idea about the work load given to you at some facilities.if you are sick even if you give advanced warning they cut your shifts back for days.even no shifts for  a week or more.they get angry with you for daring to want time of for illness basicly theatining you if you didn't go  when you want work they won't give you any its there way or else .they'll terminate your employment without reason.and when you phone numerous times tell you your on a white board short list.no intention of calling you,causing financial hardship  the have no duty o care to their employees. Also promised up to 50hr f/n didn't happen.

You don't get to choose who you can and cannot work with so there are personal risks involved when you work with extremely high needs and behavioural difficulties with clients.
If you are casual you may not get any hours for weeks at a time but if you call them all the time they will try and allocate work for you. Some clients have really big behavioural problems and there is a lot of WHS issues. However if you are lucky enough to be able to gain a good working relationship with other staff and clients then it can be a very rewarding job.

It is a feast or.famine role, you are either bogged down with huge hours, working extremely long hours (sleep over classed as 8 hours rest!) OR you have little to no hours week after week!  Very frustrating when you know other staff are getting hours.  
Lots of miscommunication, being sent to shifts and not required, having your roster marked as 'unavailable' when you haven't requested time off.  Feeling penalized when you do ask for time off by not receiving many hours.

The clients are mostly great, some behaviours but that is part of the job.

Worked here for over 4yrs. Was contracted out to one company that whole time and they assist in helping you get a permanent role within those companies.
Sometimes they would ignore when you said you were unavailable and rostered you anyway, this would cause tension and shifts would suddenly drop off until they needed you again.
Could be more support when incidents happen this could make work/life difficult. Would be nice if they organized staff get togethers for those who do 1:1 work
Always send birthday and xmas cards.
I enjoyed the clients i worked with, barely saw other staff so that made it quite lonely.

I was recruited by Edmen in December 2019, the lady who recruited me was very friendly and professional she kept me updated throughout the recruitment process and i was into work within 4 days of having my interview. I love working for Edmen since, I love the variety of being able to work at different locations supporting different people. I like the Idea that I could move to another state and stay working for the same company. I enjoy very much working for Edmen and hope to continue working as a part of the team for years to come.

really out of touch with workers needs. one day you were treated like gold and next a rusty nail.  coordinators had no idea of the workload and expectations set you up to fail to achieve requirements in limited time. Not interested in feedback and would cut hours back to nil should you not agree with them. so many more companies with better ethic than this mob
fobbed me off for over 2 months for 4hours work they had not paid me for.....eventually got it after numerous phone calls.
