Converse - AFO, was a great company to work for.

My typical 'to - dos'

- Opening/ Closing procedures
- Mailing (weekly)
- Reports (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Daily task sheets to give to the team
- Merchandising product
- Stock control
- Emails
- Phone orders (credit card dealings)

All above were my typical everyday tasks.

What I learnt is that you have to have passion in what you do to be successful, it's obvious but sometimes you just forget and that is when you end up not giving your all.

I managed a great team of 6. We all got a long but I am very up front so I made sure if I ever saw any type of tension I would address it at an appropriate time so that we as a team dont end up being affected in the long term.
I loved motivating my team to do better because the store was 'MY STORE' it was mine. So I took pride in it as well as my team.

The hardest part of the job was not having an exact day of when delivery would come through - We had a calendar saying this and that but deliveries were barely on time. So it was just hard to merchandise effectively. But the job was always done.

The most enjoyable part of the job was in the job it self. Leading, teaching, friends, relationships. My team was a very tight knit bunch of guys and thats because I encouraged them to express the way they felt if they had any issues so no-one had any backed up anger. DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM HEAD ON.

Overall - Being the Manager of such a great company did give me a different outlook on the job coming from full-timer. You don't get to see all the behind the scene going-ons so it helps you be a bit more appreciative of the work a Manager does and the sacrifices that we make. But also being responsible for an entire team is a privilege because the team look at you as the beacon. But also what I think is VERY important is the fact that you relate to your team on a friends level. They know you are their boss, but keeping that relationship intact is very important because then they never feel discouraged to talk to you.

This company did not pay staff during lockdowns and would expect you to use your annual leave to pay for yourself to live.
They do not care about you at all, weird head office culture with some really questionable people in high positions. You have to push hard for a decent salary also. 
I achieved budget and hit every KPI every single month during my employment and was never given any kind of financial bonus other than a $30 voucher that you had to constantly beg for and follow up.
They are SO behind with the times when it comes to processes and still use paper for so many things. 

Literally DO NOT bother applying for a job with them if you want career progression. 

I take every day as it comes but always go to work with a 'can do' attitude. I have learnt so much, how much I can work under pressure. How helpful and reliant I am with customers, but not only with customers but also with my colleagues. I think management has been very well set up and we are taken care of as staff members. 
Hardest part of the job would have to be not being able to satisfy a customer's needs 100%, even though you gave it your all. Most enjoyable part of job is that we get the work done, we all work hard and also still get along really well and can have a laugh.

I started when I was 19 and my rate was $20, now I am receiving 26$ on a weekday rate which is maximum for casual worker. Weekend has higher rate, ranging from $30-$39 depending if it is Saturday or Sunday. Work culture is great,  LGBTs friendly if you are part of it. However here are some cons, number of hours you will receive is ranging from 5 - 12hrs regularly in a week , sometimes 20 max, shifts are not regular. Job security is pretty bad as they can not roster you until you quit so you have to be on top of your game. Not worth it if you want consistent hours every week because working hours will stress you out.

I loved working for converse over the Xmas break, the staff were too kind not being scared to communicate and I had a great overall experience. shifts consist mostly of making sure the stock is full out front and back, all displays are tidy and sorted by size and in terms of the shoes collection and style.

Friendly staff easy to get along with, good vibes does get busy but that's the fun of it. Most enjoyable part was interacting with new customers every day and also seeing existing customers coming back and creating a special bond with them

I quite enjoyed my time workingfor this company starting as a casual employee and then transitioning into fulltime.

Good employees, and was always something on regarding outside events with the company.

An incredibly passionate and caring workplace culture and atmosphere. Management guides you instead of bossing you around and belittling. Amazing staff benefits and discounts, lifelong friends made as well

I've been working there for 3 years , pretty much just doing the same thing not enough training .
You not really allow to chat with co-workers. Area managers treat you like a number

Not great career progression
Really old school processes & micro managed. 
You do get free shoes and free clothes to wear to work though. 
I wouldn’t recommend.
