Day programs at the main hubs was one of the best positions. Direct management was lovely, approachable and understanding. 
Clients were usually great to work with, occasionally new/challenging behaviour were stressful, but in group situations you had others to help. 1:1 with some clients was difficult, and some of the hours were quite long - but manager/s doing rostering were again, flexible and understanding, usually able to offer adjustments/different shifts.
Work - life balance was pretty decent, easy enough to take time off where needed for medical/study/holiday/etc. Occasionally would have to do 9-10 days in a row of shifts, and it was very tiring/draining. 
Pay was great as well

The management at Oran Park were very racist  in their treatment  of staff.Bullying and staff back stabbing  is the norm.If you are a casual  and you make the mistake  of putting  in a compliant, you will never be given a shift.
   No wonder  there is high  rate of staff turnover. Will never  recommend  this place  to even my worst enemy  talk less of someone I care about. This organisation  is supposed  to provide  services  for mental  health but alot of staff leave  there with depression  and suicidal  thoughts  due to bullying, racism  and favouritism. The only  staff who survive here are those who suck up to the management. AVOID  THIS ORGANISATION 

Challenge was my first role in the community service sector and it surely didn’t disappoint. From the start of my interview to my last day on the job I felt welcomed and appreciated. 
I had 0 experience and no qualifications, but they took me on anyway ready to teach me along the way. 
The atmosphere within the organisation was lovely, everyone was friendly and respectful. 
I was provided with the opportunity to develop my skills and learn from my 2IC and team leader. 
On my last day, customers and co-workers wrote in a hand made card wishing me well in my future endeavours, which really shows you the kind of workplace environment Challenge strive for. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working at challenge community services was such a horrible period in my life. 
I left challenge with a physiological injury due to bullying & less to nothing support from management. 
I would not recommend anyone working for this company. Especially in the Hunter region. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The lack of care for the clients & incompetent management. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Staff are reprimanded if they speak up. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Trying to care clients with little to no structure because it's all about money.

The good things
Since I started with Challenge over a year ago, I've seen the organisation go through some huge changes. The team is constantly striving to do things better - more efficient, better technology, better culture, and focusing on their people (customers and staff). It's a really exciting company to work for because you feel as though you're really making a difference in the lives of those in your community.
The challenges
There are pain points in every company and change can be uncomfortable. But the shift in the culture of the organisation is undeniable.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The acting OM and some team leads. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Horrible, very toxic,  management don’t care about anyone but their own jobs.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You get told what to do and how to do it. If you don’t do it the way they want, even though it is wrong you are on the target list. You will get a horrible roster that you can’t do so they run you out.

Don’t come to work here. All the toxic people from australia is here. Rude staffs and the worst management ever seen. The management team lacks effective communication and support, often leaving staff feeling undervalued and overwhelmed. There seems to be a consistent disregard for employee feedback, which creates a toxic work environment. As a disability support worker, I believe that a supportive and collaborative workplace is essential for delivering the best services. Unfortunately, Place Name falls short in this regard.

This Company is full of toxic management.  They dont know how to appreciate their workers effort instead their good in put their workers down.  U will experience supporting 7 clients with only 2 staff and they never see positive things even if you will do your best. The politics in this company is unbelievable they dont see who works hard they rather keep their friends that are lazy. their always hiring cause no one can last with the way they treat their worker!

I’ve tried and tried to get through to management about how I’m studying and the hours they put me on are just not working for me anymore but I get nowhere. On call sometimes doesn’t pick up when that’s literally what they’re there for and staff don’t show up to shifts and the lack of staff is outrageous. I didn’t leave one job with lack of staff issues and promising me things to go to another one just like it. In plain, I didn’t leave one toxic environment for another. The only good thing is working with the clients. 

Extremely high turnover of staff. Non supportive of employees and work life balance. No potential of advance unless you're in the know with someone. No empathy for long work hours or days or staff shortages. High bullying with no management support. Megalomaniac management. Always running over time which is not paid. Stuck on shifts when the next calls in sick with no support from management. Toxic management structure. Once on shift your on your own, on call system is a joke, they turn off their phones.
