First day at work, asked by team leader to see my first client client without prior notice about client and help client was in for.

Was faced with ethical dilemma, didn't want to shift blame for not know what client was in for on my team leader and did 'not want client to fell that i did not know what to do.


I learnt that when faced with a problem at work, find solution to it and make a complaint to the appropriate person later. And that one should always use their past experience to deal with difficult situations or challenges at work 

I managed the situation by telling the client that even though we had information  about his issued on his  referral form, but I preferred to her form him. He appreciated it very much and willingly explained all his difficulties to me- he ran out of money and needed food to last him for the week end. Fortunately we had  a list of emergency relief agencies so I referred him to one via phone.

After 2 week at work, I learnt that 90% of the 40 staff members prefer to have their lunch in the office in the staff kitchen; They used lunch time for social interactions with staff of other sectors in the organisation, this I loved very much.

The hardest part of the job was to be stuck in the office for 2 days a week trying to  enter client's data using a very complicated reporting system which I found to understand.

The most enjoyable part of the job was our end of year conference and party which was held away form our office along the the west cost of Tasmania

Phone bookings for clients wishing to participate in pre marriage education within the Catholic Church approx 1500 couples per annum. There are quaterly restock to 9 external locations. Accounts payable, data entry for governing funding body, stationery order. Preparing course literature, reception coverage, telephone banking.Weelky banking, booking educators in for training/ conferences, liaising with 14 educators.
What I have learned - telephone banking, eligibility for the different courses on offer, order stock for external venues and resrocking them.Complying with funding agreement re data entry online. New phone system, Acces database. There are 4 other staff members within my immediate team, then I am part of the administration team which comprises of 9 other admin ladies, and then we have the whole site team which at any time there can be 60 or more staff members. The job isnt hard it is just very repeative and very busy but if I had to say what I don't enjoy it would be the daily commute some days it may take me up to 2hours to get home (Sydney rail)
Most enjoyable part of the job was learning new skills and the opportunity to alongside some wonderful people.

The position offered the opportunity to practice care and support skills with staff and clients.  Also offered a balance to practice my administrative and life skills.

The most difficult area was  continual reflective practice to work within professional boundaries both in relation to clients and work colleagues.  This of course was supported by the opportunity for professional Supervision provided by my Employer on a regular basis.

It was a privilege to work within an organisation where one had the opportunity to advocate for others by building on individual strengths and life experiences. 

I also found it satisfying to share my passion and skills with colleagues and also learnt skills and developed with the feedback and experience of work colleagues.

Work Colleagues were lovely and helpful however, Team leaders and Managers are little puppets to the CEO and are trained to lie to their teams. I experience micro managing, very little onboard training. Work life balance was good at first, then additional tasks were added on. I had a weekly meeting with my Team leader to discuss my performance. I did not even get past probation, their reasoning was my performance however, this was never discussed with me during my meetings. upper management are ruthless and marched me off the premises without any prior warning or provided support person. Most unprofessional organisation I have ever worked for.

Everyday I come to work place early. I meet people, discuss with them to find out their problems with their computer, if any and I fix it. I help them to pack up their daily data. I also learn from them the collective spirit and how to control the office and encourage people to work together. Time and progress management is not simple. However, people friendly and support each other so that we can get over obstacles with minimum effort. The hardest is to maintain the computer network to work properly along whole day. It is very interesting that we work together for a whole day than can enjoy time together after work. I love these collective./.

Always there are some difficulties when you are doing supporting work , especially if the clients are from refugees backgrounds and none English speakers,as well if there are vulnerable people , such like single women with children, families who look after their family member / members with physical disabilities or mental disabilities , to provide help to the vulnerable person you have to be a good listener be friendly with staff members, your clients and their relatives friends , be team player,accept others ideas ,solutions. the most enjoyable part of job is when you see that big smiles on the faces of your clients and their family members .

I have already done this but I am happy to do it again. They are a good Community service organisation to work for. Good teams, good atmosphere for working, lots of training. supplied uniform, and your  well being is important to management..Meeting lots of different clients with different needs and being able to help them or give them the right advice on where to go for assistance with their needs. the hardest part of the job is getting through with calls to banks to get answers for your clients. Our clients are quite disadvantaged and a lot are elderly or poorly educated so I enjoy helping them. It is great when you get a good result.

Most enjoyable part of job is leaving knowing we are working towards making a difference in peoples lives.

The management were appalling. Essentially I was bullied by one staff member and received no support. In fact I felt his side was taken. There was a real sense of brushing it under the carpet. After trying numerous times to resolve things using senior management, I decided it was hopeless and resigned. Ethically I couldn't go on. Never again. Wouldn't touch with a barge pole. Only positive was how relaxed the job was. In fact I was often very bored! Got paid for doing very little!

Loved working for catholic care to start off with...rostering was the biggest issue. had shifts rostered at last minute and not notified.  Management would complain they couldnt get staff to fill shifts but when you wanted the hours you just couldnt get them...Had to get a 2nd job, then got penalised as I then made this my main job as i got the most hours. so they took my 1 permanent client off me, so I resigned. sadly no loyalty.
