I worked here for just over 2 years, and really enjoyed working with the staff and residents. the management are very rude and not professional. I applied to go for a holiday last year in December and put my application in for leave 5 months prior to the date, the manager did not approve my time away, it was a total 3 days of work. when my time came for the holiday I supplied them a medical certificate for my time away, and when I comeback from my holiday they sacked me. I wish I had of been with the union at this time because I would of taken it a lot further. the management were constantly bullying me. when I applied for another nursing job I had to put the manager down for a reference. she told my new manager that ...I was lazy, I couldn't follow instructions, I was rude to the residents, I couldn't use manual handling instructions, I was always on my phone, and that I had only little potential, I was very upset when my new manager had told me this as I always tried my very hardest at this particular workplace and the staff and residents would be able to back me up on this. anyways I still got my new job despite there false and negative reference. this manager is going to end up losing all of her staff soon, a lot of staff have messaged myself saying they are becoming causal and wanting to leave because of how bad the management is. I really dont recommend working here at all, it is already hard enough trying to get a job without the manager giving you a reference and having false accusations. they are also always short staffed sometimes was working in a ward of 20 beds by myself.

Working at Catholic Healthcare has been a positive experience. A typical day involves providing personal care, assisting residents with daily activities, and working closely with a supportive team to deliver high-quality care. I have learned valuable skills in communication, teamwork, time management, and person-centred care. The management is approachable, supportive, and encourages professional development. The workplace culture is respectful, welcoming, and focused on providing the best care for residents. The hardest part of the job can be managing busy shifts, but the teamwork makes it easier. The most enjoyable part is building meaningful relationships with residents and knowing that my work makes a positive difference in their lives.

When at Villa Maria I learned valuable tools to deal with clients with mental and dementia issues.  A typical shift was taking responsibility for 12 residents in the diversional therapy division making sure they had plenty of fluids, assisting with meals and making sure they were comfortable when going to bed for the night.  Had very little interaction with co-workers in fact it was only when they needed assistance with a client requiring more than one staff member to attend to their needs.  Hardest part of the job was when the client was in pain and they had already had their pain medication, the pain made them a little hard to manage at times and most of the time I was on my own with the clients.  Just loved looking after the clients and so happy to assist them in the later part of their lives.

When I first started working here, there were plenty of shifts available for casual staff. However, recently there's been a noticeable shift in management’s approach, they seem to be kicking out casual workers in favour of part-time staff, even if those new hires have little to no experience and often no common senses. Futhermore i notice the recent new hires are always from 1 country🤔

Additionally, I’ve found the work environment can be challenging at times, particularly when collaborating with certain carers from that one country. Some tend to form exclusive groups, often socialising during work hours and talk in their own language rather than offering help when it’s needed. This can make teamwork difficult and leave others feeling unsupported or disrespected.

I still appreciate aspects of the job, but these issues have made the overall experience less positive over time.


A typical day involved providing personal care, supporting residents with dementia, assisting with medications, documentation, and working closely with RNs and carers. I learned safe clinical practice, communication skills, and teamwork. Management was supportive and promoted learning. The workplace culture was respectful and resident-focused. Friendly environment.  Learning opportunities and staff development are key focus of the organisation. Staff are given every opportunity to develop themselves. I did enjoyed my time working with so many lovely residents with family ever encouraging. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy, but your break time is never interrupted.  The social activities very interesting,  as staff we sometimes participate in the fun. The clinical manger was so encouraging when I was there, making the staff feel important.

Liked working at Catholic Healthcare, it was a friendly working environment and I was allowed to fit my working day around my studies at University, the job was in walking distance of the train and just a few short stops to University.
A typical day would be arriving at work and saying hello to everyone, asking if there was anything special they wanted me to do, if not, just getting on with the task at hand, matching and coding invoices to be ready for payment by the accounts team.
Hardest part of the job I suppose would be that it could be a bit repetitive but you could say that about every job, but the most enjoyable part would be great people to work with and have a bit of laugh to break up the day.

Absolutely nothing good about working amongst a bunch of rascists

Not feeling welcomed, being judged by your peers constantly 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work culture & environment is absolutely horrendous & toxic, all Australian staff act as if they're all RN's, belittling work colleagues and extremely lazy.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Typically it's like you're treading on egg shells, it's hard to work in an environment where you are under-valued & not respected, I would not recommend working here to anyone that's just beginning in this industry.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The customers and a great team leader southwest. Good hours and fair pay rates.

Driving long distance to and from home. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good enjoyable culture, nice people to work with. Good sense of humour. Good conversations with colleagues. Praised for good efforts. And helpful friendly management, best community position I have worked for. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Driving to customers homes and helping out were needed . Making sure there homes are safe and tidy. Assisting with personal hygiene. Documenting and reporting and making sure our customers are given the best service possible.

Catholic Health Care is the best organization with multicultural residents and staff. All the team members are qualified and professional, friendly and helpful. The place where I work is well managed and organized. I have learnt many many things regarding cultures of different nations and the way of celebrating. Likewise, respect, honesty, compassion also can be seen while working with each other. Basically when the I will be able to identify the need and prioritize accordingly and also when I see the smile on resident's face when I get job satisfaction. I think I enjoy all the moments when I do my job.
