At Bankstown City Council, I further developed my skills as a designer and gained further experience in effective stakeholder engagement for an organisation that serves one of Australia's largest, ethnically diverse cities.

My role was unique in that I was required to promote a wide array of projects and initiatives that include the environment, city festivals, economic/business community events and social improvement/development programs.

The hardest part of the job was ensuring that everything I designer was socially and ethnically aware, to appeal to very wide demographic of people to ensure inclusiveness and understanding.

I was place at Bankstown Council through an agency as a Temp. The position was as Admin Assistant. From the minute I arrived there, Management and staff were very friendly and very willing to help and assist.
The hours were very flexible to fit in with home life.
The role of Admin Assistant was a very diverse role. It entailed co ordinating the staff corporate yearly uniform issue for the entire council to ordering stationary and office supplies.
The hardest part of the job was leaving when the postion went from a full time role to a part time role. I need full time work so unfortunately had to leave the Council.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I felt very comfortable and welcomed, Bankstown city council made me feel part of the team,which made me enjoy working with them.


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Didn't really have any stress having a great team makes a huge difference 


What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Was a positive and supportive work place it trustworthy and honest work place 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Communication, opening toilet ready for the day collecting data, team oriented greeting the community

Working at Canterbury Bankstown has been the greatest experience of my career. Management is friendly and supportive, the people I work with are wonderful - and the overall workplace culture is just amazing here! I never want to leave! The workload is reasonable, I’m treated very well, and I’ve had many great opportunities to grow professionally in my time here. I cannot express enough just how much I adore this place!

Nothing. Organisation is run poorly. Toxic workplace

Dealing with management. Uninformed and incompetent

Toxic workplace created by management 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I no longer work there because of the toxicity

At the start, it was a great place to work at, however since the merger of Canterbury and Bankstown, the place has gone downhill.
The Regulatory Services Division, that comprises of the Rangers and Investigators have been shoved at the Canterbury Depot in Roselands in a 100 year old building that has no windows.
As I said, it was a nice place at the start.

Enjoyable and productive work environment, highly customer focused and intent on continuous improvement. Middle management almost engaged and compliant, senior leadership fully committed to business excellence.

Great place to work. Supportive team environment. Very directive leadership which can be challenging at times and career limiting. Old school in their thinking and not as creative as other councils

Flexible and team oriented. Rostered day off every 4 weeks. I learned many skills. The uniform was supplied. It was good to work with a multy cultural workforce.
