Caffe cherry beans

While I was working, I got too much stress not just because of fast-pace environment but because of the fact that the owner and the manager push to hard.

The owner pushed workers to memorise all the order from regular customers and their names even though you are not a barista. There is no trust towards works. Kind of "Blame" culture. That is the main reason all the staffs are changing frequently. I saw the manager shouting at an employee without caring about the customers lined up and waited for the order in front of the counter. The thing was it was not even the fault of the staff.

Within 2 weeks that I started to work as a weekend worker, the manager and the owner expected me to work like others with mentioning "Why can't you do two portions?" 
Not enough train period.

While I was working I've seen more than 10 new employees quit or get fired within a week or two. The way of firing was that they don't allocate any shift for a worker that they don't want to use  without official notice. It's quite shocking. 

Of course there is no weekend or public holiday extra wage. 
I have no idea is it for all shops or just the shop that I experienced.

Due to all that environment the relationship between workers are quite good.

At first, staff were friendly and welcoming, but later on turned out to be controlling. Owners pushed too hard and always worked you to the max.

Pay was minimum wage, but compared to the work, it was not enough. There was a lot of pressure put on you working there, and there was a frequent blame culture with the owners blaming employees for some things that was not even their fault. 

Management was also terrible, rosters kept changing throughout the week and the only way for you to know your shifts for the week was a page on the kitchen that was continually revised. This was very difficult, as when you worked only one shift a week before a roster was put up, you would not know you had a shift. One time it turned out I had a shift but was not informed, only to be called by the owners angrily asking why I had not turned up. 

Over the time period I had worked there, there was a great continual changeover of staff and I am not surprised. Although the customers were lovely people, the work environment was terrible and traumatising. 

Relationships between employees were strong and inclusive, and rosters were willing to be worked around other commitments (second job, study, etc). Management were often vague at best, and did not seem to be willing to offer support or understanding, reducing a fellow member to tears at one point. The fast paced nature of the job definitely kept you on your toes, and assists in teaching employees how to effectively work under pressure. 

Very unfortunate how owners were not willing to offer their employees support, instead opting to treat them as machinery deserving of the bare minimum. As per another review here, if you're a casual they will not be afraid to simply cut contact with you and not even give you the decency of telling you your employment is terminated.

I started working here at 17 and straight away  took on about triple the workload compared to my seniors (including the owner) and continued to do so for the three years I was there. My direct managers were lovely but both left due to the same overworked-ness and the absolute abusiveness that ran rampant within the company. Nepotism at its highest. Children got hired and were later trained by other children and abused when made mistakes. horrible. 

Typically, the cafe is very busy during the mornings till early afternoon, so everyone has to be fast on their feet and productive. I learned to deal with stressful and busy environments. Also learned to check food and drink quantities to make sure everything is restocked. I reckon the hardest part of the job was in continuously moving around the cafe with no rest. The enjoyable part of the job was interacting with other workers and having occasional conversations with them when we had some free time.

They gave me when I first started 5-6 hour shifts with no breaks and I didn't get any training at all. I would bring food and drinks to tables and also clean the tales. there wasn't anything to learn with my job requirements. My co-workers were all nice people and hard workers who all worked well together. the hardest part of working there was moving fast enough to keep the manager happy.

Boss in my opinion didn't give a good vibe in the workplace. Always on his phone, never smiles, too serious. He wasn't enthusiastic and that kind of killed my mood whenever I was on shift. When he's not in his wife is there and she is lovely and very smiley and shift is great.
Be warned, he will just never call you back for a shift if he decides he doesn't want you anymore. That can be anytime.

Questionable staff and management. I was welcomed with open arms and quickly made to feel replaceable, unimportant, ignored, and not listened to. When I had a bad experience with another staff member, I was kept off of the roster and quietly let go with no formal proceedings. Selfish management and staff who don't care about their workers. 

Don't work unless desperate, work expectation is high.Over worked with unrealistic expectations. But not the worst job I've had. If you like moving and getting a workout through the day this isn't that bad of a job.

Weekends are busy almost all day and weekdays are busy during lunch hours. If you're a slow learner, getting to know everything such as menu and drinks will take a while. Overall a fun job that I enjoyed.
