I usually come to work at 7am although the work start at 8am. Take charge during inspection and see to it that the work to be inspected conforms the quality requirements, IFC drawing and specification.
I've learned all the necessary information on how quality is being maintained according to the standards and specification.
I manage the job well as per the standards, drawings and specification. The engineers are not happy with my being strict during the inspection but they agree when I explain to them that we have to follow the requirements specified in the drawing, standards and specification.
Safety at the site is very evident with all the safety markings and lettering at the workplace. Safety barricades are around the area while the work is ongoing. Everybody cooperate with the safety team.
I don't recall to experience any hardest part in my job because everyone helps and cooperate.
The most enjoyable part of the job is the camaraderie that is happening at the work place. My QA Manager is kind and helpful.

I spent over 28 months as a operator engaged in detailed and bulk earthworks..the last 10 locked into the state of wa most of it on a 52 days on 4 off roster ..being a qld refugee ,cpb management  excelled in their manner and level of support ie accom,food,isolation cost of hotel ..I found management extremely approachable with issues that may arise always helpful...the majority of the supervisors were on their game professional and approachable.. my work colleagues also being one of the tightest experienced and friendly groups iv had the pleasure to work with over the last decade ..the whole covid thing was a pain in the a.s but is what it is...overall a good experience ..

Working with CPB was a great opportunity for me to see how the rest of the world operate outside the military. As my first employment after the Defence Force, I was astound at the level of care and neglect in the construction industrie. They do however have a a good culture in safety which was mostly intruduced through legislation. 

Money was good but job security was not. When one project finished you had to start looking for alternate employment. Being a bit spoiled by constant work in the Defence Force this was new to me and a bit unnerving.This is mostly why I am looking for full time employment for the next 10 to 20 years until my retirement.

Something that I can do with a good work life balance as life is not all about work.

Nothing really, sometimes time restraints can be a little stressful, but as long as you knuckle down and do your job, you'll be right

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was good in my experience, the crew I was on was great

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Clock in, get in the EWP, do my job greencutting and spotting for the day and go home, I was called off to help with other jobs from time which was good to switch up and have a break from my day to day, but I was always busy so 12 hours flew by

As with all big companies the work culture and atmosphere is usually generated by management then flows on down. I personally thought the management for South Flank project had a reasonable open door policy, very approachable for any personal issues or conflicts. Supervisors at the time not over the top with micro management altho very present most of the time. Our safety management team backed us every time we accidentally upset the client. Stupidity mostly forgiven but wilful damage or destruction a window seat. I enjoyed my 2yrs with CPB and would definitely consider another project with them.

Long hours with time fully occupied managing crew. Management expect total commitment from all employees. Like most new construction jobs , getting to know your own role and other people in the company can be difficult but once you do this it becomes easier to get the job done. On completion of project or parts thereof it is rewarding and enjoyable. Construction requires you to be able to work with a varied range of trades and professions and therefore you learn new skills and gain invaluable experience.

Long hours totaling an average of 55 a week to 63 a week. When factoring in unpaid overtime hourly rate drops to $17/hr. There is a clear focus on money and results over people despite claims from corporate otherwise. Long crunch and especially poor benefits/vacation time, next to no work/life balance encouraged.
Very poor management. you will be manager based on how many years you work for the company.
Management doesn't care about cost and money.
Poor promotion method, you must have a network to promote or your manager must really like you not your skills

**Summary:**
The overall experience is below average, with major concerns across key areas. Work-life balance is particularly poor, and job security and career advancement opportunities are very limited. Management and workplace culture are weak, contributing to a lack of support and direction. While compensation and benefits are slightly better, they are still not competitive enough to offset the negative aspects of the role.


In summary, I wouldn't recommend moving to CPB. NZ BU HR department seem to lack compassion (heartless) for their employees. It's easy to feel like just a number, and they don't hesitate to let go of staff when it's inconvenient. Additionally, the new HR personnel appear inexperienced and lack effective communication skills. Please be careful when considering leaving your current job, especially if it's stable.There are a lot of toxic and narcissistic people who like to humiliate others and just enjoy their power.  

Long hours (nominal 48.5 hrs / week) extending to 55 hrs at peak times. Not well paid, when overtime factored in the hourly rate drops to $24 ph (inc Super). 
Management are focused on meeting their KPIs and driving their staff to meet the contract objectives.
Training is minimal, if any, for new roles.   
Working conditions are poor, cramped demountables with very basic, at times inadequate, facilities with often difficulty of access to the site.
Job tenure is limited with contracts of a short term nature.
