Commence work at 0630 or 1430 for 8 hour shift
Receive handover
Depending on shift, meet requirements of activities of daily living, including showering, eating and toileting.

Gained a lot of experience in relating to different people and staff
Managing and prioritizing own work load, negotiating work load, working as a team. 

Hardest part: learning the specific wants of each resident, as each resident still wishes to control their own routine

Most enjoyable: bonds formed with staff and residents

Without being overly sentimental, this is the best group of people I have ever worked with.  I always felt empowered and supported and will miss the friendships I made whilst working at Buckland. 

Recent change in management has improved the culture of the place and management is, in my experience, extremely supportive. Residents are lovely, the grounds are beautiful and the staff are an incredibly compassionate and collaborative team.

A really bad place to work, don't touch it!!! Very bad patient to nurse ratio. Always understaffed beyond belief!! Residents not getting adequate care. You even have to do the catering at this place as well as the nursing, never seen anything like it!! Needs review by Health Care Complaints Commision and Government Compliance . Being operated as a Business not a care facility.  Very disappointing!!!

Poor culture, poor management, board of directors unapproachable, management unapproachable.
Very unhappy staff, poor clinical practice, poor patient ratio's.
This place is all about looks, residents in the village often complain and nothing gets done, staff have bought the union in for bullying by management, staff all resigned.

Buckland gave me the opportunity to gain a lot of experience and education was always provided . Staff are proactive and great to work with. Like every other work place there are days where staff call in sick. Most of all Management understand the importance of work and life balance!

We can learn different types of cultures which helps to maintain a better relationships with residents and other people.
- By doing this job we can learn lot of different multi handling jobs responsibilities.

My role includes staff allocations, care plans, liaising with family and members of the multi discipline team.
Running a 100 bed nursing home under the guidance of higher management.

No support from management 
Very intimidating management and other staff
Bullying 
Staff bickering 
Only thing I enjoyed there was the residents and a couple of good staff 


Poor management who are unapproachable and won't listen to staff concerns
Poor patient staff ratio
Bullying of staff ignored
Poor staff morale
Impossible workload leaving you no choice but to work through meal breaks
Unpaid overtime not discouraged

Rude obnoxious non australian staff that definately are not people persons.
Yell at staff, talk down to staff and can't speak english 
Treat staff terrible and for a catholic nursing home, you would think they would know how to treat staff.
