I moved to Australia taking my family with me on the BIS promise we would get to stay there permanently by getting permanent residency within 2 years... 4 years later during a mining downturn we were forced to come home as BIS never fulfilled their promise to get my residency or citizenship sorted. If I was allowed to give zero stars above, several would have been zero. The wage was excellent and I signed up to work in harsh conditions so these things did not bother me, it was the two faced attitude of management at all levels which caused many who took jobs with them to leave and find other work, or return to the UK sadder poorer and wiser
I was also told I would start as a fitter but they would find me a managerial role within 6 months, this never materialised.
I found I was far from the only person to relocate from the UK on such false promises.
My advice would be do not trust them and get every single thing about any job offer in writing.

BIS is an old established company with upper management far removed from the workforce. Low pay compared to other company's that are doing the same type of work. Cameras in the truck watching you and people sending messages commenting on your work performance. GPS plus speed control mechanisms that will send a signal to head office if you 
are 3 kph or more over the speed limit. Old vehicles and trailers and lack of major maintenance due to accountancy budget restraints. Due to BIS reputation. Hard to find company drivers due to their bad reputation.

Long days with 12.5 hours worked and another 30 minutes travel time. Team is well above par and work closely with the Downer team, which improves ore handling. Management at site seem to be all about themselves and hesitate to work with the teams they have at their disposal. All suggestions appear to be shelved and although safety is a prime concern, it has been 9 months for them trying to resolve a major safety problem concerning cleaning mirrirs and windscreens. The hardest part of the job is the tedium and boredom, however that is made up with the comraderie of the shft personnel.

Thinly stretched and old equipment with a dated executive leadership team that want to change but fall back into asset management practices from the 90's. 
There was no offsite support for maintenance supervisors, so they did what they thought was "good". Keeping machinery running even though it was in a very bad condition. (Only speaking for the site I was on). Eventually, the machines dictated the maintenance. 

it was all good till FMG had to reduce there requirments for the amount of trucks required to do there job,  witch meant people
were to be laid off, you would expect a company would pick the one who  have safty issues or other issues witch would put those 
people in a higher risk catagorey , but that didn't happen hear
it was as if they weeded out the people who had never had any issues or warnings of any kind that left a lot of us feeling a bit bewilderd ....

Most unproffesional company i have ever worked for. 
There total refusal too replace gear . Machinery with between 20.000 to 45.000 hours . 
Management totally focused on bottom line. Absoluteley no regard for operators or there wishes too be able to do there job comfortably and effiecently

Management would cover up incidents, very serious stuff, so FMG did not find out about it.  Also, if they wanted to get rid of someone, an act of taking your Safety glasses off for a split second to clean them, they would get rid of you.  If you were in the right company, you could make explosives and damage other contractors trucks and get away with it, as management would think it was hilarious.

When I first started it was a good team environment. However I had heard a bit of bad news about the Manager of the Warehouse.
However I was soon off to Cloudbreak Mine for a few rotations. When I came back the things I had heard before had escalated.

The Manager had started treating me like a second class bumb and picked on anything he could find. 
Apart from him the other guys are great, no chance of movement out of the warehouse. And after several bad run ins with the manager I left.

Crews  good people, friendship  and work attitude. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Old,  Brocking equipment,  and  management  wasn't  cared about that.

Dusty, hot, depends what is weather conditions,  culture is okay.

Travel to work,   pre start truck, driving and loading  or an loading,  brake down.
