Anaconda

A typical day at Anaconda starts of with recovery of store. My store is a fairly small store which means we do not have specific departments to work in which really fostered good relationships between all team members. A down side to this is sometimes having lack of knowledge when assisting customers in places such a fishing which not many staff knew about. My shifts can range anywhere from 10 hours to 3 hours it all really depends on the seasonal timing. Everyone in my store has a really good relationship and view each other as mates which in turn creates an environment that makes you want to come into work every shift. There is wide range of ages and ethnicity's in the store and I have never had issue with not getting along with anyone.
 
Product Knowledge nights I find are key in understanding some complicated products but as they are unpaid there is often a lack of attendance and not much incentive. 

At my store I find our manger really down to earth and easy to talk to. She is also not afraid to tell you if you are doing something wrong. They are always up to have a chat and you can tell she does care about your well being at work. The assistant manager can be very hard to talk to sometimes.

The hardest part of the job is constantly missing your 10 minute breaks due to surges of customers and constant staff changeovers. The team member discount is also bad, the sale price is often cheaper.

I personally was never trained on how to use the registers and had to figure out what everything did on its own, It wasn't to much of any issue as I was previously working a retail job. Same goes with product knowledge. Personal experience with the outdoors is a must!

Overall, Anaconda can be slow at times but also very fast paced at others. It is encouraged to be cheeky sometimes and I feel valued in my store. when I arrive its always interesting to see what mates you will be working with that day..

A typical day involves opening of the store at 8:50am, team meeting, recovery of all departments then focus on customer service and sales targets. 
Management isn't great. My store has had no manager for over a year and our team leader and key holder have been over worked and underpaid for the time and effort they put in. Regional management do not care for staff. We had a armed robbery just moments before they arrived to check on the store and all they could do is criticise our work completely disregarding what had just occurred and how it had affected staff. 
The hardest part of the job is managing customers and tasks to be completed by the end of the day. Not many shifts are given due to a constant store budget which makes it difficult to have financial stability. 
Workplace culture is probably the most enjoyable part. All staff get along and always help each other out even when it's busy.

Management will cut your shifts if they have any issues with you and will not communicate with you why like Adults. I have been underpaid numerous times, Lucky I check my payslips, but this always takes weeks to a month to fix. Non-Permanent contracts, always on a 3 month basis, so no proper job security, no room to move up in the company, they will give you extra responsibilities (E.G keys for opening and closing stores) and you wont be paid any extra for the work done, If anything goes wrong on you're shift, you'll be the first one to be thrown under the bus. 
They don't train new Staff, just shown a bunch of mind numbing videos, and you'll be ridiculed and dubbed as a bad worker for not knowing how to do tasks even though you haven't been shown and are thrown in the deep end. 
Team were like Family though, the only saving grace.

Depressing and disorganised place. A typical day would be serving customers at the register, answering the phone, unpacking stock, and doing recovery. Management was unapproachable and most had fairly poor social/communicative skills. Workplace culture isn't good and there is no staff discount, pretty low morale between staff at the location I worked at. The hardest part of the job was answering specialised customer questions without knowledge of products (since there is no training), and dealing with emotionally unstable managers. Also never received a uniform in the correct size or got all of the legally required breaks. If you're casual you won't get many shifts so don't rely on this job for a source of income. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with interesting customers who were friendly.

GREAT MANAGEMENT THAT INCLUDES THE TEAM IN A FOCUSED CAN DO AND WILL DO ATTITUDE THAT DOES INCLUDE A SPECIALISED TEAM OF AMAZING PEOPLE WITH AN ADVENTURE AND FLAIR FOR THE OUTDOORS.
IF THERE IS A HARDEST PART OF MY JOB IT WILL BE WHEN THERE IS NO CUSTOMERS IN STORE, WE NEED THEM TO SURVIVE AND OF COURSE CREATE THE JOBS AND SECURITY WE HAVE.

Working at Anaconda has let me learn a lot about my self and grow as a person. It has let my good qualities flourish and helped me improved on some of my weaker qualities. It has taught me how to deal with a number of different people in a number of different ways. Both my management and co workers have assisted with me in this and have made my time at Anaconda the best it could have been. The hardest part of my job is the different types of people that have crossed my path and learning confrontation and how to handle negative situations. The most enjoyable part of my job is overcoming difficult situations, the people whom I've had the chance to work with and the relationships I have formed with my regular customers.

management quite poor at location. wage budget was cut right after christmas so you'd be lucky to receive a shift every 2 weeks as a casual worker. theres no communication between managers and workers on shifts, you have to chronically check your roster through a website that doesn't give you any notification on when rosters are posted or changed. no training, they just throw you in the deep end. i joined right as the store opened so most of our staff had no idea what to do while management got angry when we messed up. coworkers are great and the pay is your average retail salary. however the 20% discount they offer is only for non-sale products, which means literally nothing because everything is always on sale. 

Wouldn’t recommend, required 4 weeks notice if I wanted a day off even though I was casual and only released rosters on a weekly basis. Management was rude and pushy and doesn’t respect personal issues. Dismissed due to being late twice because my car had broken down and I called ahead and was advised it was all okay. Only 5-10 minutes late. No warnings issued but once dismissed was advised that I had warnings for being late and it was my last strike. 

I’ve been with Anaconda for over a year now and it has been a great company to work with. It is a knowledge based company where you need to know your products in order to serve customers to the best of your ability. Shifts do vary as you may get 5 shifts per week then can get cut back to 1 shift to no shifts for a month or more. The pay is really good for a casual but it is not promised that you will get many shifts. If you are looking for a second job to get extra cash, then I suggest working as a casual at Anaconda but as a full time job or as a main source of income, it is not worth it. 

i learned so many things from this job, learned how to deal with customers and to help them out with whatever they needed. Hardest part of the job was when they would ask comparing the two but because i haven't been taught the information about it therefore, i didn't know anything about the product. the most enjoyable part of the job was when i was working on the front counter, that's my favourite job working at the till. you get to meet new people and greet them, i love bagging and using the counter it's fun. Normally the day isn't too busy, it only gets busy if it's getting closer to like easter or christmas.
