My days were pretty much the same everyday, I would process new and finished orders into Pronto, the companies main computer program for data collection and accounting.  I also answered the phone as we did not have a reception and this duty was shared amongst the rest of the staff within the office.  I would do the filing and archiving when it was necessary and make sure my area was tidy and clean and easy to find files should someone need to use them. 

I learnt a lot about time management and organisation as I had to adhere to strict deadlines as my data input for all orders that were being manufactured had to be completed every week within a certain time frame.

Due to how busy we were in the office we didn't get to really socialise but we would have a joke every now and again and we got on really well, we helped each other if we needed it and gave each other support.

The hardest part of the job was end of month as the accounts department would want all my data entry completed by a certain time in the day which could be difficult to determine as it depended on the manufacturing floor.

I didn't mind at all the repetitiveness of my job and enjoyed liaising with the Sales Reps and Customer Service Reps in VIC, NSW & WA.  There was always something to do and I was never left with nothing to do and that's exactly how I liked it.

My job consisted of purchasing all engineering parts and stock for the company. I also use to attend break downs and carry out repairs to manufacturing machinery. AMCOR trained me to use SAP and SRM systems and also put through a Swinburne University Of Technology were I successfully completed a course of study for Certificate 4 in Competitive Manufacturing. I got along and worked well with my co- workers and we attended many social functions together outside of work. The hardest part of the job was when I would be doing a stock take or in the middle of creating a big order for the company and I would be called out to a break down. If sometimes the break down was big and required a lot of time to fix it would be hard picking up were you left off the order or stocktaking and this would happen quite often. I did enjoy the purchasing side of the job very much and this is the reason why I want to seek employment in this role of store man or purchasing officer.

Start at 6am to 6pm fair working conditions would go to work do a pre-start and plant pre-start. Go and do what we where instructed to do. Witch most days for me was doing final trim butter works, working with pipes and gas well heads on some sites. I learnt how to operate a Grader while i was out there witch was fun and exciting would like to do more on them. Great crew to work with everyone got on very well and shared there experiences and skills to help one and other out. The hardest part was living in camp with no phone servise at all so we couldn't call home for 2 to 3 weeks. Was a pretty ordinary camp to had no facilites or activites to do after work and to top it off it was a dry camp so couldn't even have a beer. The best part was being able to work with a great bunch of blokes on site that new what they where doing wicth made everyones job a lot easier. Was just a let down with management and pay.

Working for Amcor in IT is very demanding as they don't have IT personnel working on sites, all network incidents are rectified remotely. At times the workload is full on as Amcor is always on the lookout for acquisitions.

I travelled to Amcor sites in Australia and New Zealand to install Cisco devices and troubleshoot network issues.

Management is aggressive and demanding trying to keep up with the continuous work as a result of a global enterprise.

My colleagues are very good to work with and found them friendly and helpful most of the time.

The hardest part of the job was the long hours I worked especially when migrating IPsec VPN tunnels after the migration of the Data Centres from VIC to NSW.

Most enjoyable time was when I worked on projects and working on new technologies.

Was a very good place to work with where i worked at Regants Park;
The managment at Regents Park where fantastic ,but managment above them lacked responabillity to there employees as when the place announced it was closing down they where no where to be seen .which was very sad .All the emplyees wanted some answers from upper managment.Saying this our managers where very good and handeled it very well .Something i feel upper managment could learn from.
I personally loved working for Amcor Flexibles at Regants Park sad leaving arfter 33yrs of employment and nothing for it.

A typical day would involve running a paper rewinding machine to meet customer orders,and to attend to the paper machine when the paper sheet would break which would, sometimes make that the hardest part of the day. If the paper machine could run all day without a break that would make it the best part of the day. We had five crews and i had the pleasure to work with them all when doing overtime on other crews and my team were a great bunch of fellows. We also had a good team of maintanance personnal and the managment on the most part were also a good team to work with.

Very low moral at all sites, top to mid level management doesn't care for customers or staff, only profits.A lot of pressue on production,but machines breaking down all the time and not  maintained,mostly held together by sticky tape. toilets & locker rooms filthy and lacking of soap and toilet consumables, on going issue for mant years. There are a lot better companies to work for.Most enjoyable part was producing good product when good raw material was given but that was a rareity.Again machines poory maintained to produce good product...Do yourself a favour, bypass this one.

THIS WAS A PHYSICALLY AND MENTALL DEMANDING JOB, WHERE I LEARNT MANY DIFFERENT ASPECTS ON THE PACKAGING INDUSTRY. I OPERATED FLEXO-FOLDER GLUERS, UP TO THREE COLOUR PRINTERS WITH DIE CUTTING. I ALSO OPERATED PRE-FEEDERS, AND WROTE ALL THE SAFE OPERATING PRACTICES FOR THE MACHINE. I WAS IN CHARGE OF PRODUCTION ON THE MACHINES AND ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANY DOWN-TIME LONGER THAN 60 SECONDS.
IT WAS A GREAT PLACE TO LEARN NEW SKILLS, OPERATE WITHIN A TEAM AND INCREASE MY WAGES WITH MY SKILLS.
THIS WAS A PRO-ACTIVE EMPLOYER THAT ALWAYS MADE SURE ALL MACHINERY WAS MAINTAINED, THERE WAS REGULAR TRAINING COURSES AND IMPROVEMENTS MADE.

- Typical day at work:
   Processing orders, raising production jobs, feedback to all    
   customer's queries via email/phone, liaise with planners and 
   warehouse to help expedite orders / deliveries, supporting 
   account managers, uploading pricing, generating reports and 
   monitor slow moving stock
- All the co-workers are really friendly.
- The most enjoyable part of the job is to be able to help the 
  customers to solve their problems.

To be a good manager I believe you first have to work on the Floor to understand what is to be done and the time it has to be done in. Using Stock that is old First than newer stock later before it is to late...They tend to lack in this department thus we had a lot of waste.
Communication is the key and when you sit on a HIGH HORSE you cant really see what is happening below, listening to your workers and fixing problems should be first priority...
