I worked at Allity Normanhurst for 3 months in the lifestyle team and this was enough time for me to realise that there was a lack of "care factor" from management. Any feedback or suggestions given to improve how the team worked and communicated fell on deaf ears. The manager said it cost too much money for members of the lifestyle team to have an email  set up and suggested communication could be done via notice boards in our office.How archaic and unprofessional!!  I observed staff cuts from nursing and servery staff and lifestyle staff were expected to fill the gaps (especially on the weekend) when only one lifestyle staff member was working(me). 
A typical shift between 8am-4pm consisted of  8.15am-8.45 am assisting a resident with their breakfast. 9am, preparing activity room, inviting and supporting  residents to attend, actiivity from 9.30-10am. Then assisting residents to cafe for morning tea, or take them to their room or elsewhere, assist in cafe to serve coffees. Set up next activity commencing at 10.30am. Invite and support residents to attend. Activity concludes by 11.30am,support residents to room etc. Admin time before 12pm as you are required to assist resident with lunch from 12.15 to 12.45..You have lunch at 1pm-1.30pm. You have 30 minutes to prepare for next activity,set up room,invite and support residents. Activity runs until 3pm. Assist residents back to their rooms as nursing staff changeover. Pack up activity and head to office to do admin. Leave at 4pm.

Management do not care about their staff. They place the highest pressure to get tasks done with zero support in place. One person could not do what they demanded. Staff would start an hour earlier and finish an hour late without being paid just so things could get done.
Residents often went without due to staff shortages. Less ENs and more medication competent carers increased the number of errors tenfold. 
Casual staff were not allowed to be "unavailable" for time periods or take holidays without extensive periods of notice. 
Nurses were scared to lose their registrations, other staff were worried about their job safety as redundancies were being discussed. And the main doctor was rude, obnoxious and didn't care about the residents as everything was simply an inconvenience.
At the end of the day the residents suffered.

It is without a doubt the worst place I have ever worked. Handing in my resignation was the happiest day of my 

"Make everyday the best it can be"... for management maybe but they certainly dont for the residents.

A general day at work starts initially with a quick catch up with the General Manager regarding any staffing issues, departures or admissions. I then do payroll from the day before/weekend to ensure all changes have been entered into our payroll system (Kronos). We have a daily catch up with the General Manager, Care Manager, Maintenance, Chef, Lifestyle and myself Admin so that we can give an quick update on whats happening or needs to be done.  Throughout the day I answer the phone, have staff, residents, families and GP enquiries, do tours of the home. I look after resident admissions and departures. Recruiting of new staff & training. In the workplace we have a diverse range of cultures in both the staff and the residents which at times can be challenging with the language barriers. My days are busy, but are very rewarding when you can see the change you can make to peoples lives in what is generally a very hard time for residents families having to have their loved come into Aged Care. The hardest part of the job would have to be seeing families lose their loved ones.

Currently regretting working for this company. Every shift worked, is always understaffed and it shows in residents concerns.
Never enough staff on the floor,  cannot find a nurse when needed,  as they are usually working between different floors. Extremely hard to ensure tasks are met in a timely manner, as a result of increasing needs of residents,  management pressures to just work harder. Not enough equipment needed, which is shared between floors at the distress of residents and staff having to try and locate where it is. Cannot find staff to assist you when needed. A severe lack of communication between staff members, almost daily on shifts. Staff go on breaks,  without passing on phone to alert when a residents presses their buzzer,  cannot always view alert screen at nurses station. This is evident when on other side of wing or assisting residents in their rooms. Management and senior staff then have the audacity to reprimand staff, for their lack of workplace processes. 

Big company offers absolutely no stability or guarantee of any hours or form of employment. Bottom dollar is the only thing that matters. Employee loyalty and commitment is a zero. 
No ways of contacting management and even union staff have stated they can't fight the 'Allity way' to help staff receive fair pay or treatment from this corporate monster. I can work elsewhere. My heart goes out to the employees who cannot find alternative employment and the residents, who deserve to be treated as human beings, have a voice, have a choice and live with dignity. Unfortunately this is not the ‘Allity way’. Don't work for this employer. Working for Allity destroyed my faith in Australia's ability to provide quality care for our elderly. I want to see a culture where our elderly are treated with respect and that is not the 'Allity way'. Apparently only money talks for this employer...not people.

A place I would love to work at but staff don’t communicate with youthe role is full on you have no time to do what’s needed the residence are lovely but there’s a shortage of staff and you arebrun off ur feet no time for proper training your put with a nother stuff member and throw in the deep end  no communication from any supervising stuff at all until you get a email saying that you no longer required and that ur inplyment ends today after the shift you have just done no phone call nothing so I called and went in to see what the reasoning for standing me down was and they couldn’t give me one so I left and would recommend any one that is looking for a job here to stay away unless you have supper powers and can do everything with out knowing and not having the knowledge of what has to be done and how it’s done 

This would have to be the worse employment experience of my life. 5 years of dedication, hard work, caring for the poor residents. A large bullying culture, from staff and Management. Upper management need a reality check. Some of these CEO's and People and Culture people, need to work a shift and get their hands dirty. Staff constantly deal with exhaustion, are over worked, underpaid, undervalued, with no incentives at all. Some issues include dealing with incompetent Administration. Chasing up pay errors, chasing up forms, and information. After 5 years, making the choice to walk away saved me. Do yourself a favor, Don't bother!!! I sleep well at night now. Life is too short.

No communication to employees whatsoever. No way to talk to management. No response from management. No ability to challenge work practices or suggest improvements.


Cons:
I love nursing and being able to help people but Allity expects qualified registered nurses to work within such incredibly strict and rigid rules that I found it impossible to provide the quality care that I believe people deserve. There were no resources available and no likelihood of any at any time. I don't mind working for a lousy pay packet if I feel that I am contributing - but I never once felt like I contributed anything meaningful in this environment.

This job can be a great job for someone who doesn't get personally involved, the aged people there are beautiful people and can be a handful for the carers, working in the kitchen lets you see other stuff that goes on behind doors i.e. need more carers for the elderly as they are kept waiting for a lot of the time which can be very sad especially listening to them crying and yelling out for help.  I get very depressed in this job role, that is why I am seeking to get back into the office environment, back into what I think for me would be a normal working life before I retire.

We were understaffed to begin with then they cut hours further, 2 staff to look after 23 residents and in the last hour of am shift there is only 1 staff. The quality of life for all residents is horrible at best and staff are constantly told to work beyond their scope of practice and if you make a complaint or suggestion you are bullied, reprimanded or let go. Allity only care about the $$$ not their staff or residents.
All staff are worked beyond breaking point and are lucky to get 1 lunch break in a week.
