my days consisted of bathing and dressing the residents as well as maintaining hygene and all care needs be it physical and /medical.Keeping case notes at the end of every shift to allow communiction to other nurses in regards to the well being of the residents and any issues, be it medical or behavioural,these case notes where also read daily by the Drs who attended the needs of the residents.My co workers were great and the best part of the job for me was when I shared a laugh with residents and saw them smiling, I also felt wonderful when I came on shift and residents would call me sweet pea and have huge smiles to see me.The hardest part of the job was when a resident passes away,nurses caring for residents on a long term basis do build a bond with them a trust and to see them pass is very sad, and tending to their needs post death is confronting and heartbreaking. I myself found that it did get easier but still fills you with sadness.I have never forgotten the names of a few I had the pleasure of caring for.

A typical day at work would start at handover from the RN of the previous shift.  This is important as the health status of older people with co-morbidities can alter suddenly. Continuous and ongoing care needs good interpersonal skills as well as clear and precise documentation. 
Once hand-over is complete I would start the first drug round.  This could take up to 2 hours depending on incidents that may occur during your medication round.
The hardest part of my job was keeping to a time schedule e.g.. medications if there was an incident such as a fall or illness. Being the only Registered Nurse on site for most of my shifts I had to manage and document all incidents while doing regular medications and wound dressings.
The most enjoyable part of my job was seeing clients improve through good management and education. Emotional support of the elderly is essential in their health improvement and ageing process.
Providing this along with sound nursing care would make my day.

Everyday there's something new but a lot similar to most days, personally i do not class committing to caring for my 72 year old grandmother as a job, i would take the chance to care for any of my family members whenever it came the time to, especially when they genuinely need the help.
Taking the initiative to take on such a huge responsibility has shown me that many people suffer from an illness or old age and need support in majority of aspects in life therefore i would consider Aged care as a career path.
It is hard to see somebody close to you or to another individual change as a person so rapidly due to an illness as well as struggle to maintain themselves and lose all independence, But doing all that you can and dedicating your time and what you know to that person bring a sense of joy, hope and happiness to know you are helping someone and changing their life doing things they once did, wishing they still could!

Working in aged care is like working in a home. Residents are like your grand parents, so the care that I am giving is like on how I should want to be given for my parents. They are vulnerable , so I must be observant in looking after them such as with their physical and emotional changes. They tend not to verbalises much on what is wrong about them so gestures is essential while doing their activities of living. Collaboration with the RN, RAO, and Physiotherapy also plays an important role. Talking to them during spare time as well to their families are needed to know them better , so that proper care which is resident centred has to be promoted. Suspected abuse has to be mandatory and to be reported. The management helped out to cater the needs of the staffs. The culture is quite challenging due to language barrier, luckily I can speak in minimum the language they are using so it helps in the continuity of care, or an interpreter is available if needed.

Working in aged care and disabilities is profession which is both rewarding and challenging.
A typical day consists of assisting clients in their daily activities and as much as possible, enabling clients to attain independence in their lives.
Most clients are managed by providers who have the best interest of the client and employee in mind. Some clients are self managed which, if inexperienced, can be difficult as this is a new and developing process and an area in which the government and providers needs to address.
Most difficult aspect of the work is encountering challenging behaviours but with patience and understanding this can be managed.
Most enjoyable aspect of the work is the people who are inspiring and often a wealth of information from life's experiences.

Whilst I love my work and there is much to guggle at this facility with in a day. I am spending to much time traveling to and from work (over 2 hours)
This is a happy place to work and unfortunatley we are all stretched too far to enjoy the very reason we are all there and that is the residents!
I deal with  a diversity of stakeholders throughout the course of my day/week whilst tapping into the community to resource the best outcomes for my residents.
I am very lucky to have the residents support and their respect for what I do  to provide and maintain person centre care for them.

My time working in aged care was great. The work is hard but rewarding. 
You learn to be patient, empathy very quickly, watching the smile on the residents faces or their eyes light up when you walk in the door.
Management were easy to talk to so if you had a problem their door was always open . Everyone works as a team this is to get the work done safely .
The hardest part is watching a resident loose the battle to live and seeing their family grieving.
I enjoyed the interaction time with each person.

Assist clients from bed, shower, dress take to dining area, assist with feeding, medications as per medication chart, continence pad changes, assist with activities, lunches, continence pad changes, put to bed for sleep.

Out of bed for afternoon tea, movie, pad changes, dinner, sponge wash for 5 high care clients, pad change, bed clothes, rest in bed or sleep.  

Assist independent although requires assistance x one clients with some cares.

Staff work as a team.

My days was very excited I use to prepare snacks and tea trollly before senior citizen come to the |Day Care. Then we need to pick them up from the homes. I learned how to use Hoist to make them sit put on their belts with care.
talk to them listen to their stories. I learned so much from the team members they were so cooperative. With their guidance I was able to adjust my self.
As far as the management is concerned they were very supportive they offered me job but in the absence of driver's licence I could not accept their offer.

1:Having the Happy Hour with the Residents, and to know how they love to sing all the old songs.
2: To know that some of the residents who suffer with dementia, still have long time memmories.
3:The management who set good policies and procedures.
4:Who plans the the work and works as a team.
5:To wake  the resident in the morning.
6.To encourage the resident to do things for them self, andsee that they improve.(A caring job).
