I learned many aspects of the cotton industry whilst I was there, I even got to travel out to the cotton farms to see and experience first hand from the seedling to harvest stages.  There was not so much culture while I was there as this was quite a long time ago however we all respected our peers and Management.  The hardest part of my job would of been end of financial year and the pressure to ensure that all accounting entries were entered into the correct years and balancing the bank reconciliations for both the  huge Marketing Department and Limited Department bank accounts.  Talking to the clients and greeting them when they come in.

Gin is run by manager that doesn't know anything about the minutiae of ginning. This creates conflict with all the permanent workers and drags the culture down. Backpackers are bottom of the totem pole and are given all the worst tasks. Work can be quite easy depending on the job you get. They reduced 10 hours of overtime and took away weekends and didn't let anybody know until induction which was very underhanded and cost us thousands of dollars.

The job was okay, I got hundreds and hundreds of hours of forklift experience but management was not that good and full-time workers always tried to show their superiority over us backpackers. Hardest part was doing the most boring thing 11 hours 6 days a week. Trying to keep it interesting. But learned a lot of patience and self control. 
But most enjoyable part was seeing how all the cotton gets exported and handled and being part of it. It was very interesting. 
Typical day was sorting bales, running them in sheds.

typical day usually calm in of season whilst carrying out repairs and maintenance concentrating on preventive maintenance with small permanent staff.
highly stressful during ginning seasons with situations arising with machinery, product, computers with product tracking and system control,breakdowns ,fire, storms and logistics. usually with an inexperienced casual back packers and also lacking in numbers experienced permanent staff.
most enjoyable part of job was payday and roster days off

It was 24/7 on going cotton ginning with 3 different shifts. System which was to give over your shift was made smooth and reliable.

Management team were skilled and wise with the machinery. Furthermore, workplace culture was friendly. Auscott takes care of its workers.

The most enjoyable part of the job was to work with that amazing team which was carefully selected by management.

Sometimes the work is draining and repetitive. Most of the staff here are lovely to work with and are easy going. The pay is excellent for the work, you receive a standard rate for the first 8 hours and then after this you receive time and a half for 2 hours then double rate for another 2 hours so the paycheck at the end of the week is worth it! I did this work for my second year visa and would definitely go back to working there saving up money to travel and live!

Honestly, from my experience working at auscott the people are easy going down to earth and ready to give you a helping hand, for someone as myself straight out of highschool it's allowed me to get a fresh start on my feet and show my how the work force really works i'd reccomend this job to a friend family or even those in need :)

My assignment is to take cotton bails and moduls off the trucks with the loader. It depends what kind of truck it was and what we needed to use(Front end loader or Infield loader).
Most of time I am spending with driving Front end loader.

Worked with Auscott for many years on and off, doing anything from stick picking. Chipping aswell as Irrigation and harvesting. Also fencing maintenance of vehicles and such

it was a safe well environment worked there for a couple months in two different jobs was treated well by employees i learnt how to work in many different enviroments and learnt many different ways to handle many different situations
