	Managing a team of Employment Consultants to ensure efficient and effective integration of front, middle and back office functions

I worked for APM for a number of years as a DES and ESS consultant ,when there is a good team, it is supportive and brilliant. The KPIs aren't ridiculously high and are somewhat achievable. 
The team I was in was a high performing team that had good outcomes and while there was some turn over the core of the team was strong. 
Some of the role is incredibly rewarding however if you are an overly sympathetic person you will fail, there are a lot of people who really are capable of working but just dont want to. That being said there are a lot of people who aren't job ready. APM gives you a chance to prioritise job ready clients and focus on supports for those who have more complex issues. 
The place is a little micro managed the upper management tend to just leave you alone, if you are doing your job. The targets are reasonable and the case load is a manageable. If you are a soft person with a bleeding heart this job is not for you. If you are an arrogant snob who likes to treat people like dirt, also not for you. If you want to help people and have a bit of backbone (and can see when someone is pulling your leg) this is a great role. 
It's a challenge and the only reasons I left was I needed a better work life balance and wanted a bit more money. 

The interview process was easy. Base pay was OK, however the bonuses were good. The KPIs were achievable. The manager I had did not create the best work environment, however the rest of the team I worked with was good.

You're going to deal with clients who are difficult, some are rude, most don't want to attend their appointments.. However when you do manage to get a client a job and change their lives, it makes it all worth while. But that's employment services for you!

I left because of a death in the family, which at the time was not managed well by my business manager or upper management. I had to really fight tooth and nail to take just 1 week off. I wanted 2 weeks and only ended up getting a few days off. And when I came back into work my business manager made me feel guilty for taking time off work and making my team pick up my clients. After this, I just left. This was likely just an attitude by the business manager and im unsure if it's a 100% reflection on APM. 

If you want to change peoples lives and thrive in challenges, then sure. If you can't manage your time correctly or deal with stress. Then APM/Employment services is not for you.

There is a lot of training when you start. Six weeks so you really get good quality. I found people always willing to help and management may be in a different state but I felt I could always speak to them if and when needed. I admit I'm glad I'm on the CCB team as it lets you get your teeth into a project and make a difference. The hardest part is trying to get to the decision makers in other organizations so i can do my job. I'm lucky to be out of the office 50% of the time which I enjoy. My team leader knows is stuff so it helps me do my job. Our office is nice and i don't feel any bad vibes. People know their own job and just do it with little supervision. It is totally different with them working in the NDIA systems where every little thing is monitored.

When I first started working for Advanced Personnel Management I really enjoyed my job. I like attending to the needs to the clients and having a management team that supported its employees. It was an industry I had never worked in before and I learnt to much to list. All my co-workers were very supportive and I knew I was able to approach one of them should a manager not be available to speak with. The hardest part of the job was marketing clients to employers for potential positions and when new management took over 6 months ago having the KPI targets tripled. With this came a lot of pressure for all employees to perform and if underperforming they were micro managed and a performance review was conducted monthly until it was improved. The most enjoyable part of the job for me was being able to secure employment for my job seekers and knowing I had help to improve their life.

Purporting to help people doesn’t ring true at all. It is all about placements & claims and achieving targets and compliance than helping people.
Training is mimimal and there is very little support from my immediate manager and zero support or collaboration from higher levels of management.
It would always be a challenging job due to its multi-faceted nature and many moving parts, but without local or even wider level support it is overwhelmingly challenging.
This job is burning me out and negatively affecting my mental health.
I believe it is due to a lack of skill & experience in my immediate manager to work with people to help them succeed.
It would be a great start to be asked, “what do you need to succeed here?”, but I’m not going to hold my breath for that one.
I’m mind-boggled to see that this is Employment Consulting and I’m deeply sorry for the participants and the experience they have.

APM is also a very large company in the DES sector, with many government contract to deliver their services to all areas in the major capitals. during my time with APM I enjoyed my work due to the satisfaction of helping people with needs to gain employment. the software was easy to follow for and training was a very common event, with trainers that had plenty of experience in the field. 

The management was less experienced at people skills, but they were experienced at the job of DES provider.

The hardest part of the job was to get employers to commit to employing a person from the DES network, due to an over supply of DES providers, and lack of customer service from each provider after placing a jobseeker, but when the jobseeker was happy, the employer usually was happy also, and the rest was very rewarding.

Being an employment consultant is a hard job in itself the bourse where standard and the role was ok but the expectation vs reality was extremely non achievable 
My manager at the time was lovely but the management of the business itself especially though covid was not achievable KPIS of employment where impossible to meet but still expected I enjoyed the role but as most large companies the expectation vs reality of the role and market was non comparable also there is no pre employment requirement just people skills but you do really need some kind of social degree to assist with managing the mental health issues your confronted with whilst being employed and it’s not something you are trained to deal with

Kpis, constant scrutiny with non compliance and management practices were shocking to other workmates and people

Toxic, stressful,  nepotism within the organisation

Attend appointments,  find suitable employment opportunities,  maintaining policy and procedures for centrelink enquiries,  identifying barriers to employment,  post placement support, clerical duties,  referral to employment opportunities,  whs compliance,

Terrible company to work for, purely only care about “placements” for their own benefit because the higher management get big bonuses while the staff below them do all the work, deal with the stress of pushing clients into work and rarely ever see a bonus. Underpaid for the workload, basically forcing consultants to be unqualified social workers, dealing with issues that are far beyond our capability and training, dealing with abuse from clients with very little support from management.
