Full Job Description

Position: Graduate Solar Engineer
Department: Engineering / Renewable Energy
Reports To: Senior Solar Engineer / Engineering Manager

Role Overview

The Graduate Solar Engineer supports the design, development, implementation, and optimization of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. This role provides hands-on experience in renewable energy engineering, including system design, performance analysis, project execution, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Solar System Design & Engineering

Assist in the design and layout of solar PV systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects.
Prepare technical drawings, single-line diagrams, and system specifications.
Conduct energy yield assessments and performance simulations.
Support equipment selection, including solar panels, inverters, transformers, and mounting systems.

Technical Analysis

Analyze solar resource and weather data.
Perform system sizing calculations and electrical design studies.
Evaluate project feasibility, energy production, and technical performance.
Support battery energy storage system (BESS) integration studies where applicable.

Project Support

Assist with project planning, scheduling, and engineering documentation.
Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
Support construction, commissioning, and testing activities.
Monitor project progress and help resolve technical issues.

Site Assessments

Participate in site inspections and feasibility studies.
Collect field data and assess site conditions.
Identify potential design constraints and optimization opportunities.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
Assist with preparation of permit applications and grid connection documentation.
Support quality control, testing, and commissioning procedures.
Follow health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.

Reporting & Documentation

Prepare technical reports, calculations, and project documentation.
Maintain accurate engineering records and project files.
Present findings and recommendations to project teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Recent graduate or up to 2 years of relevant experience.
Basic understanding of solar PV systems and electrical engineering principles.

Desired Skills

Knowledge of solar design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
