Accounts Payable/Payroll Officer

A Full Time Position.

The College

Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the Range escarpment in Australia's Garden City of Toowoomba, Fairholme College is one of Australia's leading independent girls' schools with around nine hundred students from Kindy to Year 12 and over two hundred boarders form part of the total enrolment.

Fairholme students enjoy outstanding success in academic pursuits (close to 95% of Year 12 students proceed to tertiary studies each year), as well as in sporting, cultural and service activities. The Position

Position: Accounts Payable/Payroll Officer

Responsible To: Business Manager

Reports To: Administration Manager

Key Functional Relationships: Staff, Parents, Suppliers

The Person

We seek a committed, professional and appropriately qualified person wanting to join the College community in the important field of Accounts Payable/Payroll. The Accounts Payable/Payroll Officer works as part of the Business Team and reports to the Administration Manager. The successful person will work full time – 38 hours per week Monday to Friday.

The Position

The ideal candidate will:

Support positively the Christian ethos, values and mission of Fairholme College;
Demonstrate attention to detail, commitment to accuracy and impeccable record-keeping skills;
Have highly developed technological skills particularly in relation to the maintenance of data base software;
Be experienced and skilled in working as part of a team with a diversity of personnel, yet equipped to work independently upon self-directed projects;
Strong communication skills (both written and spoken) and a demonstrated background in positive liaison with colleagues;
A background, working knowledge and understanding of administration and accounts payable/payroll, preferably within a school environment;
Well-developed computer skills in all aspects of Microsoft Office, specifically excel and word.

Specific Duties

Accounts Payable

Checking, collating, filing, data entry and reconciliation procedures associated with the payment of Suppliers’ invoices.
Mailing, and emailing of weekly and monthly payments and associated filing of invoices.
Reconciling monthly supplier statements.
Attending to electronic payment of suppliers, and BPay’s through the College’s bankers.
Processing of Credit Card purchases and reconciliation.
Asset Entry from Suppliers invoices.

Payroll and HR

Processing of monthly payment of salaries
Assisting with monthly payment of PAYG and other payroll deductions including superannuation, etc.
Assisting with maintenance of all staff payroll records including annual leave, sick leave, long service leave and superannuation.
Monitoring of currency of relevant staff Working with Children Cards to ensure the College’s compliance..

A current blue card;
The College may require the successful person to undertake other duties from time to time (subject to the person’s ability to perform such duties) and in keeping with their role.

As a member of the College, the successful applicant is required to follow all workplace, health and safety requirements that include but are not limited to:

Adherence to and working knowledge of policy requirements;
Cooperation with audit, professional learning and training/drill processes;
Meticulous attention to reporting responsibilities and record-keeping obligations in relation to all workplace, health and safety matters.

The appointment is currently under the conditions of the Fairholme College Certified Agreement 2025.
